Body image in Bollywood refers to the portrayal of physical appearance and beauty standards in the Indian film industry. Bollywood often promotes idealized body types, favoring slimness and fair skin, which can perpetuate unrealistic beauty ideals.
This can impact the self-esteem and body confidence of viewers, especially young audiences. Some actors and actresses face pressure to conform to these standards, leading to issues like body dysmorphia and unhealthy practices. However, there has been a growing awareness in recent years, with some actors advocating for body positivity and diversity in film, challenging traditional notions of beauty in Bollywood.
Similarly, the people’s favorite Shehnaaz Gill recently opened up about the same in an event where she appeared to promote her much anticipated film ” Thank you for coming”.
Shehnaaz said, Supposedly If I am not a part of the film industry then I would say that I liked that Fat Shehnaz Gill more , she was the best. But if I personally talk about my personal point of view on this, if you want to work in this industry then it’s important to maintain your figure because it’s very important that the clothes made by a designer should fit you.
Some people say that there’s a role where you have to put on weight and look like the previous Shehnaaz Gill used to look. Would you like to do it? Then I reply to them With folded hands that please Ask me to do anything else but now I can’t gain weight because only I know how I have lost my weight.
But one thing I will say is that those who are not a part of this industry, I think it’s best for them (to stay as they are). Because what’s the use of such a life? It’s better to die Says Shehnaaz Gill sarcastically.”
She added, “I will only say one thing that nothing happens with Body whether you are fat or thin, it doesn’t matter. You should have confidence in yourself”.
