Film business expert Girish Johar is optimistic about the film’s success. He predicts a massive opening collection of about ₹45 to 50 crore for all languages combined.
However, Johar also acknowledges that if the film doesn’t live up to expectations, its box office numbers may drop over the weekend. On the other hand, if the movie is good, it could see an increase in collections on the second and third days, potentially reaching ₹60 crore and ₹70 crore, respectively. The film’s performance in international markets will also play a role, with estimates of around ₹150-170 crore worldwide for the weekend, considering all languages.
Leading up to the release, some cinemas have raised ticket prices, particularly luxury seats in Delhi’s multiplexes, which now cost ₹2000. This is partly due to the popularity of Prabhas, especially in the southern film industry. However, Johar emphasizes that the impact of the price increase will depend on whether audiences feel the film offers value for their money. He hopes that Adipurush will meet expectations and provide an enjoyable experience for viewers.
Advance bookings for Adipurush began on June 11 in India and have already brought in approximately ₹3.5 crore in ticket sales. The film has also generated significant interest in international markets, with advance bookings in Australia and New Zealand amounting to nearly $16,000, a week before its release.
Adipurush is scheduled to premiere worldwide on June 16, 2023. Produced by T-Series (Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar), Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, Rajesh Nair (Retrophiles), and Pramod and Vamsi (UV Creations), the film has received a U certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification.
