Five Indian Students Died In Van-Truck Collision On HWY 401 In Ontario

Very heartbreaking news has been hitting the headlines since yesterday in which it has been reported that five people have died after a van and a tractor-trailer collided on Highway 401 in Quinte West, Ontario.

According to the reports, the crash happened at 3:45 a.m. on the highway between Aikins Road and Saint Hilaire Road. It involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger van. Five passengers of the van were killed and two others were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.

The reports added that the deceased were Indians and are identified as Harpreet Singh, 24, Jaspinder Singh, 21, Karanpal Singh, 22, Mohit Chouhan, 23 and Pawan Kumar, 23.

The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for approximately 10 hours between Wallbridge Loyalist Road and Glen Miller Road for the investigation. The roads have now reopened.

According to an OPP update issued on Sunday, March 13. They were studying in Montreal and the Greater Toronto Area. Police said that two other passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries following the crash but did not update their conditions. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and no charges have been laid.
